OT was a Jew law and does not apply to Christ believers anymore. That does not mean we can use the good things from it and discard the rest. I believe in the 10 commandments - does not mean I have to follow the OT.
This is the problem: your iron-age religion chose to piggy back on a rather barbaric bronze-age religion. That's just something you and your apologetics are going to have to cope with.
Also, when quote-mining Jesus to say that the OT doesn't apply, it's not honest to ignore the next verse where he says that it does apply until the heavens and the earth pass. Oops. Learn to Bible:
