Perhaps your pastor meant antitheism and not atheism. Satanism and antitheism go together rather well. Also, atheism is not a religion.
Or maybe we give the Pastor too much credit, and he merely meant the old chestnut that anyone who doesn't serve the Lord serves Satan by default.
