Technically, yes, it is called portuguese.
In reality, it's less portuguese than US english is English.

Damned brazillians can't even say the name of their country the right way... any word ending in 'L', they make it end with the sound 'U'.... Bráziu.

a few years ago, we had a new "orthographic agreement" implemented. It was supposed to be implemented in all portuguese speaking countries, Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Principe. All the african countries rejected it... later on, Brazil rejected it as well.
The sad part is that the agreement would make the written language closer to the spoken language... in Brazil.
Now, in Portugal, we have a new way of writing words which makes them sound (according to the old agreement) like they're brazillian...
Many of the new words were already widely used in Brazil, having dropped a few mute consonants..

Ugh. My best friend (his name is Brent) has a Brazilian girlfriend. She pronounces his name "Breyant". It fucking drives me insane. When I hear her say his name I want to stab her in the eye.
