I just decided that the truth on its own terms was more important than what I wanted it to be. Likewise the with the 'real' world, I decided to take it straight without any sweeteners.

All I see is a mammalian chassis with some souped up software. No more sign of a watchmaker than there is for an impala.

I don't believe it was created at all. As conditions change perhaps we'll see more modification in the same way that has brought us to where we are today. No interference will be required from either us or your imaginary friend.

No. Of course not. I have no bias to preserve on that score and I'm not bat shit crazy.

So you're in favor of teaching the controversy when it comes to math, grammar and history as well? There are no standards as far as you're concerned? Well thanks for not going into education.

No, I don't believe in the devil. I don't have an objective set of morals I feel compelled to execute where every failing makes me feel like a piece of shit. Nor do I feel that I should. The amazing thing is that anyone does feel as you do. (It isn't natural.)
(November 23, 2014 at 3:01 pm)YouCanCallMeDave Wrote: 7. Are you 'an Atheist' because you don't see any evidence in the least for a personal theistic Creator?
Correct. If you actually had anything substantial I could change my position in a heartbeat. But I don't desire to believe in a god so I won't make any special effort so don't expect me to compromise my beliefs in the service of changing them. I see nothing attractive about what you believe. Really, quite the opposite.

As I've already told ChadW any number of times I can't conceive of a logical argument that would convince me that what we see can only have come from a cosmic watchmaker. What we see is simply what we see and we're in no position to impose necessities on how it got to be that way. All we can do is track the natural record as far as it goes and report on some of its history. Beyond that is only hubris and idiocy (the former in ChadW's case, most likely the latter in yours).

Once I accompanied my father to his church intending only to find some common ground. At some point the pastor guy asked a question (which I no longer recall) and I ended up saying that I was fine with believers believing but that I'd rather they worked less hard at proselytizing since the world would be less rich and interesting if everyone in the world donned a suit, picked up a bible and went to a church on Sundays. The pastor guy called me a snake. My only regret was causing my father some distress. But the guy was an ass.

None. I'm not invested in adopting this belief even though I stand ready to if you can actually provide any relevant and sufficient evidence for god. Otherwise, no big loss.
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to complete the PreQualifier . Based on your own admission(s) , you don't have the interest/willingness/or desire to consider anything else than your own religion of atheistic Secular Humanism and thus hold to an unchanging apriori-commitment to what is comfortable for you philosophically. Ergo, Im sure we both agree that you are not a qualified Candidate for the topic at hand. However, I do thank you for your time and honesty and if you know of Another who is a more open-minded Seeker then perhaps you will have them take the test also. I trust youre not upset with my findings as only roughly 1% of the Atheist Community ive engaged represent true open minded diligent Seekers without any bias. Dave.
