What's really interesting about all this is that most so called 'possessions' have a strong psychological element. It is perhaps not too surprising that if those who are possessed believe in exorcism then, when performed it will have a real-world effect.
Of course what compounds the problem is the fact that there are real-world anchors for this type of delusion (e.g. the Catholic Church).
