Well, it is blind (no eyes to see with) but it isn't random (because natural selection explicitly refers to metrics). You could call it guided in the same way that a falling leaf is "guided" by the breeze - but that's probably not going to be very satisfying and I certainly wouldn't use the word to describe it myself.

If some individual has a heritable trait that allows it to have more offspring than any given individual in the wider population, then the number of individuals that possess this trait will increase with each successive generation (so long as it remains advantageous to possess) - simply because there are more of them with the trait to -have- offspring. That's pretty simple stuff, yeah? I don't know if it meets the bar for fabulous, but I suppose it's fabulously explanatory....so there's always that.
