I could so easily get a ticket and hop a flight across the Pacific back my own somewhat more addictive culture (minus mass shootings, gangs, religious theism, and other hysterias). I have missed 4 years of hockey, clean cold air, and lush fresh forests, and the 2 months of holiday seasons. I was born an atheist and I have been atheist and non-religious my whole life, but yes, I do enjoy with grand glee the holiday season with all the trimmings. It has nothing to do with god or religions but own take on 'tis the season gives me carte blanche to sing and cook and make merry and shower people with good things.
I miss the smell of ice,the smell of goldened trees and the pines, the smells of fall and winter....and then the sunny floral lift of early spring as the skates and pucks are still whooshing.
Sigh. I am a long long long way from home in a place that I don't love doing something I believe in. Everything in life is a tradeoff.
Pardon my nosiness but where are you right now?
But you can keep the ice. A good summer Christmas season for me.
