The molecules of an object (A) vibrate generating infrared radiation. If another object (B) with higher vibrations (therefore generating more infrared radiation) is compared, object (A) is cold relative to object (B), whereas Object (B) is warm relative to object (A). The infrared radiation will be exchanged between the two toward equilibrium until they are the same temperature. If they touch, the vibrations will also exchange toward equilibrium, until they are the same temperature.
