We tried something similar on my old forum (which had far few members than AF).

One girl wanted her name up in pink and, since she was close friends with one of the admins, he did it for her.

Then someone else wanted their name in blue. Another orange, etc etc, and, frankly it became too much work.

We ended up telling them to create one of those colourful, sparkly things you can create and add it to their signature. That way if they wanted to do it, they had to do it themselves and the staff could actually get on with their jobs.
