I am very well read on most major religions,

Be aware that if you are an atheist, you'll be constantly reminded that you "obviously haven't read [holy book]" by whichever theist you just pantsed in any given discussion. Because as you no doubt are aware, [holy book] is written in such a clear and unambiguous manner that it can't possibly be misunderstood or misinterpreted unless the [personification of evil] has pulled the wool over your poor godless eyes.

My wife seems to think we need to have a Christmas tree. The cats see it basically as a giant cat toy. So as you can see, it more or less remains not decorated. Her views are the same as mine, albeit much more festive.
