Some is not indicative of the whole. Saying that the unibomer (also not even technically a serial killer, since he only killed 3 people and the minimum requirement is 4) was a genius doesn't mean anything. There have been hundreds of serial killers. You can also point to serial killers who were borderline retarded. The Green River killer had an IQ of 85 or something, and Henry Lee Lucas couldn't even read. What is generally portrayed by the media and in that article (the link that is supposed to back up their claim doesn't go anywhere) has actually been studied by experts who know better and determined to be a myth.

The image of the evil genius serial killer is mostly a Hollywood invention. Real serial killers generally do not possess unique or exceptional intellectual skills. The reality is that most serial killers who have had their IQ tested score between borderline and above average intelligence (3). This is very consistent with the general population.
