This forum inevitably raises my political hackles. I'm a libertarian which doesn't mean I agree with everyone who calls themselves libertarian. I am for keeping the government out of our personal lives be the subject sexual, religious, drugs, or unhealthily dangerous sports.
Actual anti-discrimination laws are a good thing, preference is just another word for discrimination. And preference leads to more racism.
I think the economy generally works best if the government keeps its mitts off. But there are legitimate reasons why the government should tinker with the economy, just not nearly as much as it does. Frankly, I usually agree with the goals for tinkering, I just don't think the methods used for accomplishing them work. The "cure" is often worse than the disease.
All of which is to say that I don't think it's stupidity or gullibility that makes some blue collar workers like A Theist conservative. I think many of them understand that the cure is worse than the disease. And as the most affected by the side effects of the cure, they are best placed to observe the truth of that.
