Most Chinese people don't have access to guns....so they don't go on school shooting sprees. Instead they go on school knifing sprees.

My response was for this reply only, the idea that if people don't have guns, they will just use knives as an argument repulsed me.
I realize we can't close the barn door, too late. I am not against guns. I have a problem with semi automatic weapons in the hands of children at shooting ranges. I have a problem with classrooms full of 1st aand 2nd graders being mowed down with semi automatic weapons. Semi or fully, so powerful either way. I don't have the answers. I wish there was an answer to what causes people to go on rampages. The mental health system brought into this awareness.
My mother was shot with a rifle when I was 7. She was throwing a Tupperware party. I was upstairs in my room playing with another woman's little girl. This wasn't a rampage. The teen boys that lived across the street were trippin' on LSD, my mom had a globe light that changed colors (70's hippies). The boys shot at it into our living room. One lady was grazed across the forehead. Unfortunately, my mother was nicked in the side of the neck, and a bullet went through her chest on the right side. Collapsed lung. I heard glass breaking and ran downstairs to razz her about dropping a glass. I saw her lying on the floor in a pool of blood. I will never forget it.
She survived.
You would think that I would be extremely anti gun. I am not. They aren't for me necessarily. I am not educated in the subject. I just now the shock and sadness I feel when I hear of tragedies. The argument that people will be dangerous with guns or not is valid. The destruction caused by different weapons is another story, and is not a valid argument for pro guns. IMO.
