I'm not entirely sure about the jewish sects and their degrees of fundamentalism. In the second district of Vienna is a pretty sizeable community of jews wearing the same garb as the ones on the plane. It's the traditional jewish district. My mother grew up there too between the wars, but in a secular family.
The reason why I'm mentioning this is, they don't socialise, but I've never seen them evade women either or put up any signs.
