Devil's advocate: sometimes, yes. Every once in a while, a mule (offspring of a horse and a donkey) comes out fertile. It's extremely rare, but it does happen.
Not the johnny mules. The mollies can be fertile, but they have to bang a horse or a donkey. But hey, we have Neanderthal DNA so I guess it's not the farthest fetched Drich has been, not even in the OP.
