My predicition

If aliens came to this planet for the first time proclaiming Allah is God and Mohammed is his prophet, I would suggest you start going to Mosque. My "threat" has nothing to do with Christian mindset. It has to do with a position that if aliens independently practiced a religion earthlings also practice, that would suggest to me that such a religion is divinely inspired. It is much more likely that Allah is God and Mohammed is his prophet than for the exact same religion to emerge on another planet as a matter of happenstance.

This is just my opinion of course.

I didn't say "aliens came to this planet for the first time", so I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words into my mouth so you can tell me I'm wrong.

Other than that I think you missed the point entirely and I dont see the point in arguing so I'll just say thank you for answering me.

edit: although, having said that, I do think your first answer was quite honest really, apart from the preachy threat, so I'm happy to leave it at that if you are.

But I did say "aliens came to this planet the first time" when I laid out the thought experiment. If you change the conditions of the thought experiment and then claim the conclusion of the original thought experiment is wrong.....what you have done is made a straw man argument.

Can you see your error now?

Edit: I re-read the exchange. What you did was add a new element to the thought experiment. The element being that aliens had visited this planet. I then put in the condition that they had not so as to clarify my point that if one religion emerged independently on two separate planets, that would give you good reason to take that religion seriously.
