Um no, do not equate all atheists as belonging to one religion, because the word itself "atheist" is a position, not a religion. It is not a political party, moral code or loyalty oath. "Atheist" merely means "off" on one claim.
Buddhists can be atheists, Jews can be atheists, and other atheists can hold new age crappy claims and believe in crap conspiracies like 9/11 and JFK, I have run into them. Atheists can also hold economic views I hate, like fans of Ayn Rand and others who are fans of Che.
Science is label independent. Gravity works in Saudi Arabia, and in Japan and in Mexico and on the north and south poles. DNA is proven in plants in Saudi Arabia, and in Japan, and in humans and tigers and chimps and spiders and every living thing including bacteria.
Science works regardless of which god you chose to believe in, but your god belief is not required anymore than belief in Allah or Yahweh or Thor or Vishnu.
To stupidly claim that valuing facts is dogmatic is what the Church did in putting Galileo under house arrest for telling the truth that the sun, and not the earth, was the center of the solar system.
Do not get upset with us over the books we had no hand in writing. It is not our fault the people that wrote them had no clue of the nature of reality.
