Hello

The best you'll get out of it is that your son, as soon as he is capable of minimal independence will leave the house without hesitating. Just an advice, from a well behaved 20 year old man with a lovely mother that was never too paranoid about my activities. I'd go one step further and say that my mother's permissive policy allowed me to grow as an individual; so yeah, your methodology doesn't have my approval.
Actually my son comes and goes. He is free to do as he pleases as long as he remembers he is still bound by some of my house rules. Ian lives with me still because he has no way to take care of himself otherwise. Ian has mental health issues you are not aware of and they can cause issue without any help from me. As for your approval or disapproval of my parenting methods. Just because it appears to be "helicopter parenting", it isn't Ian is the only one home everyone else moved out. If Ian had stable finances he would be most welcomed to move out if he so chooses. Try to keep in mind while I appreciate the overwhelming support all of you provide to my son. There is 2 sides to every coin.
Respectfully,
