The problem is that evolution is taught as if it is a proven fact and all the scientific evidence against it is ignored.

No, it's taught as if it's scientific fact, not proven fact. Science doesn't deal with proof. There is a motherload of scientific evidence for evolution so the fact it's not "proven" is no biggie. No science is proven.

This is one of the reasons we don't hear much about the evidence against evolution. Papers must be peer reviewed before they can be published and the peers who are doing the reviewing all believe in evolution.

So in other words, those who believe in evolution are soundly backed up with evidence and peer-reviewed whilst creationists don't have evidence and don't peer-review? Can't say I'm surprised.
