Asking "why" and questioning everything that comes across the table is a really good way to think, but acting on it in everyday conversations with people you interact with on a daily basis could get ugly. The important thing is that you learn to think critically, and to choose your battles wisely. Basically what I'm saying is I don't advise arguing with your mother. Some times a smile and a nod is all you need to get through the day.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
