Shit, when 94% of Oklahomans think something is stupid...

I'm highly skeptical that this is actually the case. Parkman said that was a poll of two districts of students, parents and teachers. Hardly representative. I'm sure dissent for the bill is extremely high, but I doubt it's that high.

Also, Edmond and Norman schools took a flash poll of students and parents in reaction to the house committee vote, and a total of 6,627 responses were collected. According to the districts the four-question poll, it overwhelmingly indicated that Norman citizens do not agree with lawmakers' actions.

The results from district spokespersons are below:

96 percent indicated that the Legislature should not make any AP courses illegal
99 percent indicated they understood that AP courses were a choice/elective that often results in college credit but which are not required of any student
95 percent indicated they would be “angry/disappointed” if the Legislature proceeds in making any AP courses illegal
77 percent believed the Legislature should have no oversight of the courses local districts offer

There has been enough backlash that the dolt who created the bill, Dan Fisher, is backpeddling hard.

“We’re trying to fix the bill,” Fisher said. “It was very poorly worded and was incredibly ambiguous, and we didn’t realize that, so it’s been misinterpreted. We’re going to clear it up so folks will know exactly what we’re trying to accomplish, and it’s not to hurt AP. We’re very supportive of the AP program.”

So you saying that it should be illegal for state funding to go to AP US History courses was misinterpreted, and what you really meant is for the state to evaluate the course instead? Right. Jackass.
