I spent time in Saudi Arabia in 1992 as a member of the US Air Force. I was in D'haran though. I got over to Bahrain a few times and found that Allah looks the other way for your countryman while they are there, lol.
Take care.
You were in Dhahran then? I passed through there on the way both in and out, March 92 headed onto Riyadh with the 4409th, July of the same year headed out -- 'twas the hottest day I've ever experienced, 119°, reputedly.
I was there on your way out. I've got news for you - you experienced one of the cooler days. It was frequently north of 130F! It got much worse starting about mid-August though. The winds shift at that time and start blowing in from the Persian Gulf. The temperature drops but the humidity skyrockets. Imagine temperatures still over 100F and humidity approaching 90%. We carried a box of 1.5 liter bottles of water in the trucks whenever we went out. I remember drinking an entire bottle in one go and just staring at the empty in amazement. Twenty minutes later, I was reaching for another one!
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
