I recognized my sister's voice, non-stop, for some three hours. Poor thing had a hard time of it. I wonder if being so young made it harder, but I doubt that.
Probably has more to do with pain tolerance. I've got horror stories, but one has to do with having my water broken when I wasn't dilated at all and the other with having my uterus repaired with no meds after giving birth. Labor itself just sucks and might even venture to say it's more exhausting than painful. Some people don't deal well with pain and I would think that would make it much worse. I was in hard labor for 24 hours with Leli due to my reaction to the epidural and my refusal to have a c section. By the end I was so tired and hungry I don't think I even cared about the pain.
