You know, at every single well check for all three kids the doctor does a risk eval. Some questions are "has your child been exposed to someone who might have tuberculosis?", "have you been vaccinated for whooping cough and the flu?", "do you live in a home built before 1970* and if so has it been checked for lead paint?", "do have any guns in your home?"

These are things that doctors consider to be serious health hazards for children. I don't think you should keep guns in your home at all if you have children.
