Just to be clear, "insana" does not mean "woman". It means "human". So he was not being overtly sexist, although one could reasonably argue he was definitely being sexist in an implicit manner.
Compared to some other countries in the Arab world, Lebanese women are quite free actually. The Sheikh did not sound Lebanese to me, so no wonder he thought he could speak that way to a woman.
