So a less confusing phrasing of the OP might be: "atheism is not devil worship"
I just read a little about LaVeyan satanism. If I am reading correctly, it is true that they also don't believe there is a God. I would also not categorize this type of belief system as real Satanism. They only rebel against ideas whereas Satan, in Christian theology, rebelled against the person of God. It just isn't the same thing. The belief system seems misnamed to me. It would more appropriately be called carnalism. In my view, Satan and the other fallen angels, who know God, are in a class that most humans cannot actually achieve, since God remains hidden from most people.
