With each one of the days, God is preparing the earth for mankind’s arrival. After God created man, He ‘rested’ (God’s creation activities have ceased until Day 7 completes). As one can see, some of the reasons God created the universe centers around Man - who has been endowed with both a body and spirit which connotes an eternal purpose.

Seems to me that god created heaven and earth but earth was still without form and there was no light. Then god created light

Odd that. And what waters was god hovering over? It all flies in the face of what we know about cosmology. So at the end of the first day we have a formless earth and light divided from dark but no source of light and nothing to stop light from illuminating everything. As a statement of what happened it's hopelessly confused.

But, as I pointed out and you have ignored those days of preparation are wildly out of order no matter how much time is allotted for each day. So why did this divinely inspired book get the order of event ass backwards?

And what about the creation story in Genesis 2 which is in a completely different order?

The cosmos light existed long before it's penetration to the earth's surface. When that happened, it marked the beginning of the first day. The frame of reference for the 'days' is the earth's surface.
