However, just as you have the right to offend others, others have the right to express their unease. That doesn't mean they're being a "bitch about it".

It doesn't have to mean that but in this case that's pretty much how it came across. It's one thing to express your disagreement or dislike---as you did---its another thing to start labeling people racists and bigots.
