This is where you get weird. It's fine to say a claim someone makes is subject to proof - regardless of what may have sourced or inspired the claim. But you're attacking the source because somebody used it in a way it was not intended. That's not a fault of the source but of the one who used it inappropriately. Don't blame the car for killing someone when the driver was drunk.
