Sure people like Bill Nye were great when we were kids, but I expect much more out of a show like Cosmos than what has Tyson provided. Plus, I would like Tyson to spend more time worrying about science than wasting valuable time addressing the people who made him feel butt-hurt about the age of the universe. The whole point of Cosmos wasn't to capture your wonder. It was for the adolescent who might become the next Michio Kaku or Carl Sagan. Hence the cartoons and the lack of in depth science. It was a primetime show, FFS. They aren't going to do an hour on susy or quantum mechanics.
So you agree with Cosmos being dumbed down from its original version?
