Obliviousness? I know of that being the Law and it was better than the alternative. That's not saying much with our current societal viewpoint, but it was the best for that era.
It actually wasn't too long ago that a similar viewpoint was common in America...if you knocked up a woman, it was automatically assumed you would marry her regardless of your actual feelings towards her.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
