Because the Christian thing to do is have the wealthy spend an inordinate amount of time playing politics and wasting money rather than help their fellow man?
You are quite a short sighted individual, if the United States had put the money spent on the space program into feeding the hungry the hunger issue would have been solved and no one would suffer from hunger, but then I guess you would rather have the technology that's come from it instead of all people being well feed.
