Can Atheism become corrupt like religion?

RE: Can Atheism become corrupt like religion?
Quote:Today, as a scientist. If you so dare go against the 'status quo' of Atheism you lose your job.
I don't think so. First of all, scientists are all people who study a certain field and not only exact sciences like Physics and Astronomy. Secondly, the research to prove most scientists are atheists is a study presented once from Neil Tyson that asks a question about praying to personal god - That is not determinant in any way and some surveys show a larger percentage of theists believing in a higher force (at least). I don't think scientists are being marginalized for being theists, they could perfectly believe that what they study was caused by god and god does not interfere with it.
Quote:So what's the flaw? Atheism is slowly but surely becoming a cult-following, within a hundred years a hierarchy council will be formed similar to the catholic/jewdaism/islam councils. And future scientists trying to disprove the 'status quo' that evolution created humanity will be burnt to the stake and witch hunted (figuratively speaking). Why will they be witch hunted? You're average atheists could care less if someone is researching 'intelligent design', but the hierarchy of the new Atheism in elitists in power will feel threatened.
I don't disagree entirely with the initial statement - There are atheist institutions and leaders like Dawkins and atheists are a minority, so I can't imagine what it will possibly become once atheists become the majority. I certainly think there's a lot of groupthinking and dogmas in both New Atheism and also groups like A+. Being an atheist doesn't save you from stupidity. You don't need holy books to have dogmas. I believe in the future various groups of atheists will be formed and some will be more anti-theist while others will be interested in friendlier approaches.
Quote:Do you feel - Atheism is slowly going to become corrupt like religions? Scientists will not be permitted to look into 'supernatural' or 'mistisism' and try to find a scientific reasoning - as it would be deemed blasphemy and heretic as an Atheist society.
I certainly don't think that atheists should take the approach that god/religion are enemies of science because (1) It creates antagonism between religious institutions and science when the formers are starting to support scientific communities (the Catholic church is a good example and the pope as a scientist as a consultant) and gives excuses to creationists to propagate their view when most Christians are not preached by creationist nuts (2) It creates the idea that it's stupid to be a scientist and a theist and that may lower the number of theists who want to apply (3) It creates divisions in society and mentalities of Us V Them

Quote:There is no atheist dogma, evolution and atheism are not related.
The more I talk to atheists the more I doubt this. Here's the thing - Everyone has dogmas, irrationality and delusion. There isn't a perfect super-human being that isn't prone to the same brain patterns and groupthinking mentality. Evolution and atheism are not related, but organized atheism overwhelmingly supports evolution, so I'd say atheism, evolution and materialism are related by the mere fact atheists are more likely to be the latter. Yes, there's no guarantee of a sane mind in an atheist, but then again, what can I assume about Christians? Are there so many dogmas? Catholicism has at least 5 main dogmas I can think, but you can be a Christian and not even go to church, and in theory your only dogma would be believing in Jesus

I don't think atheism has dogmas, but organized atheism has lots of dogmas, and that's why I'm starting to dislike it. I'm not saying atheism in theory has dogmas, but in practice I see the contrary coming from atheist friends. Since we aren't a magical group we should self-criticize ourselves to avoid falling into the same trap other groups fall.
