They were once used as cart dogs and cropping the tail keep it out of the way, most like me like the look. Many countries in Europe do not allow the tails to be cut. Two of these males want get theirs cut. Tomorrow is the day the two females and one male lose their tails and dew claws come off. Very little pain when they're this young (3 days old). People who use rottweilers in protection work believe the tail gives them better balance, who knows they did fine for many years without them. They are very soft.
