Happily, I think those days are pretty much gone.It's worth noting a lot of those crimes go back decades.However, I have little doubt the problem remains endemic. I believe There needs to be radical changes at an institutional level for things to really improve.
ANYONE,clergy and others,caught harming a child; automatic police involvement.Period. THAT was the responsibility of the churches all along.That they failed so miserably,is despicable.Perhaps the one good thing to emerge from all the sewerage is ever more people are coming to realise the depth of corruption and irrelevance of of organised religion..
Today people are more aware and less tolerant of those arsewipes. Plus, victims are more willing to come forward. There seems to be also a lot less of blaming the victim and minimising the the crimes. (except from the Churches of course) There is also some support for victims where there was none.
Here in my city two former Catholic priests have been gaoled this year.I hope they make lots of new intimate friends in gaol and that one of the friendships will be fatal.
