I'm perfectly fine with the idea of legalizing it. I actually wrote an editorial about it once.
I find the restriction of prostitution tantamount to restricting hair cuts or colors, length of finger and toenails, etc. What a person does with their body is none of my business, so long as all parties involved are willing participants. Even then, it's really none of my business, but it pisses me off something fierce.
That old saying "The world needs ditch diggers" can apply to prostitution. Some women and men are simply incapable of handling common jobs. They have to make money somehow. Also, someone like me would find sex with someone for money repulsive. Not really the act of being paid, but the act of having sex with someone that I wasn't attracted to and/or didn't have feelings for. Some people don't think it's a big deal. They are particularly well-suited for the job. Good for them. Go and get some money. It gives people who would otherwise never have sex a chance to get laid and someone gets paid for using their own body to make cash. It's a good thing from where I'm sitting. It's no different than getting paid to model or play sports.
