Ugh. I hate hypothetical situations. I believe that people don't really know what they would do in any given situation until they've been through it at least once. I do believe that people can say what they would like to do, but we have to admit the very real possibility that we would do something different. Even if it is what we say we would never do.
I'd like to say that I'd be OK with a family member being a sex worker. I'd like to say that, but I might not be OK with it.
As for the benefits of legalization?
I'd imagine the workers could unionize.
They could depend upon legal protection to protect them from abusive clients.
Government regulation could be enacted to protect the workers and clients. I'm thinking mandatory regular testing and condom use.
