You perhaps confuse farce taking itself seriously with thought experiment. Do farces have some experimental value? Perhaps. Were they so constructed as to be thought experiments? It seems hardly credible to me. It seems to me they were meant, at most, to preach some, usually childishly simplistic, view of human morality or behavior through some contrived circumstance. More likely they were formed the way ithey were because the writer didn't even mean to preach, but thought preaching something about behavior and morality in what they conceive to be insightful ways was the ticket to being taken seriously.
