Most (?) private plans offer differing retirement age options v/ payout, I wouldn't mind have options with SS too.
They would have to be 'actuarially sound' (whatever that means) options, from my viewpoint.
Curious admission:
I don't have a problem with means testing, although if they did it I would most likely have a loss of benefits. I'm not thrilled with pensioners pissing away their SS checks at the casino, but that is a different thread . . . .
