Thanks for that. However, I live in the UK. What I was pointing out was that we need to update our prison facilities but the appetite to spend the money isn't there.

Hell no. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial.
Maybe I haven't made my point clear.
It's fine to say that caring societies don't execute criminals.
However, what is caring about a society that doesn't adequately protect its citizens from those who have already murdered? Where's the justice for those who have been murdered by someone who has murdered before?

Death penalty doesn't deter criminals. Why can't you grasp that fact? It doesn't work. You're just killing more people. Is that what you want?
Why don't you get my point?
What it does do is to ensure that a murderer doesn't escape and does it again.
