Looks like I'm late to the party, but let me add my voice to gun opponents.
I'd say there are TWO levels of harm intrinsic to the 2nd amendment and its application.
1) Guns kill people. Lots of people, fast, and at range. The better part of 10,000 people per year in the US.
2) Believing that guns don't add extra danger to society requires a willful ignorance typical of Christians who want Creationism to be taught in schools, or Republicans who deny that humans are affecting the world's climate.
The real problem, to me, is #2. Unfortunately, America is still the most powerful country in the world, and policies are made by people and at the demand of an electorate, who have become habituated to deliberate ignorance: that if you bullshit enough, the bullshit becomes reality. It doesn't. Ever.
