You can do that too. You can tell them you're a sodomite, even if you're not. Either way to them "atheist" and "sodomite" are all the same evil, so they wouldn't know you're straight unless you told them.
The trouble is, everyone with gaydar knows I am not gay. I don't know how gaydar works, but some people are really good at telling other's sexuality from very little interaction with them. That, too, is a superpower that many gay people often seem to have that I lack. But some straight people seem to have gaydar also.
I suppose, though, that I can tell them I am gay anyway, which will upset them even if they are not so sure they believe me. I might have to try it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
