If God is real, then why does He stay "hidden"?
I used to struggle with this one, until I understood that if He was physically involved and present in our daily lives, many of us would ask Him for things all the time, and resent Him when anything went wrong in our lives, or if we didn't get what we wanted. It is better to just not believe than to resent and hate.
^At least that's my understanding of it. What's yours??
According to the bible, your god managed to be physically present in human lives during the Old Testament times. What changed? Why wouldn't you resent god once you reached heaven but you would resent him if he showed himself to you on earth?
Christians realized that a god that showed up all the time and performed clear and unambiguous miracles wouldn't fly because people would ask, as you do, why it doesn't happen anymore. So as time went on, theists started hiding their gods and making them mysterious, such that it required blind faith and wishful thinking to be religious. The fact is, none of this stuff ever happened, it's all mythology and some people remain far too gullible.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.
