No religion in human history, monotheistic or polytheistic is pure. Your label is not magic nor has any super powers to make you do good or bad.
Being Catholic did not prevent priests from molesting kids. Nor does it prevent Muslims or Buddhists from doing it either.
The crime of molesting children is worldwide in every nation. What prevents those acts isnt old books. What prevents it is EDUCATION and not allowing powers of any label to cover it up when it does happen.
