External Circumstances may make it more of a necessity, such as if it scratches a Child, but I will try and learn and keep up with trimming the Cat's nails. Do you have any tips on this?
Don't.
And if a cat scratches a kid the kid probably had it coming.
1. I let the kid get near the Cat in a way that it doesn't like he Kid.
2. I should have trimmed the Cat's nails beforehand, or I trimmed it's nails inproperly, so this wouldn't have happened. This would have been purely my own incompetence.
3. And finally, in the tinted view of a Parent that has never had a cat or even dislikes Cats, it would have been my fault for not Declawing the cat. A Parent wouldn't care, because it is effecting them and their child personally and physically.
So really, I need to be a better Cat Owner.
