I don't know what  EVO is.

Best buy has one shop in Australia, in Queensland, I think. it does not sell online in Australia. I seldom buy anything from overseas, unless via Ebay.-

As I've said, I prefer not to do business with Amazon because of the way they treat their employees

I will start buying external SSD when the price  is competitive with flash drives.  My use externally is only for storage . Currently i store things on the Imac hard drive, backups on external HDD or flash drives.

500Gig, $107:

They already are competitive with and more reliable than flash drives. Newegg.com features Aussie partner stores.

Hope no more...

2TB:

4TB:

Granted, bang for your buck goes down as size goes up, but they're getting bigger all the time and the 1 and 2 TB drives are becoming affordable.

External SSDs can already be had for the same or less than comparably sized flash drives and the larger the drive, the cheaper the SSD is in comparison to the flash drive.

Spinny disks are dying technology. Their only real advantage at this point is their sheer size in a 3.5in footprint. They can't even fill the data pipeline on SATA 6.0Gig where SSDs are bottle necked by it. Ram is cheap, silicon platters, not so much and the data densities on those platters are peaking. Another decade or so and spinny disks will be going the way of CDs and floppies.
