In my common language I'll use the words "jesus christ" when something happens that I can't quite believe or when I'm shocked.
Jesus = unbelievable which is how I tend to think that everyone uses it. It really signifies to me that most everyone relates Jesus to an unbelievable event.

The "oh my god" phrase has really come to mean something about the same thing, but it can be used in any number of ways.
I use it all the time.
I like using "bless you" when someone sneezes because then I'll say "Since I'm an atheist, does the bless you really count ?"
