I can and do say that certain things are subjectively wrong, and when a substantial number of people agree with me that those things are wrong, we have established a community where those things are not tolerated. That is how one establishes and preserves a society with morals -- through consensus, not through gods.
Oh so when a bunch of people agree on something, that means its wrong??
Now your getting it. But its a bit more subtle than that.
Society is what laws are based on but empathy is what morals are based on. But laws can influence empathy, in some backwards parts of the world there are still state sanctioned executions, something that is deemed immoral in the developed world. People in those countries don't have a problem with the state doing this evil act their m,orals have not caught up with the rest of us yet.
Quote:So Hitler got a bunch of people to agree with him that what he did wasnt wrong, so therefore, according to your logic, what he did wasnt wrong!! Does that make sense to you??
If Hitler had won the war you'd be rounding up jews now. In fact you have Trump so that may yet come.
Quote:Morality being based on society doesnt work. We know this because of the Holocaust.
You seem to be arguing against yourself, the holocaust is proof that people can have their morality altered by the society they live in. It happened and people did it, they did not think it was bad. so.......
