Hi Tib, I'll explain what causes the problem - because it is a problem and I wish it would be addressed.
If an insecure iframe is embedded in the secure version of the site then it is automatically blocked by FF, Chrome, and IE. Only IE pops up a box offering to unblock it. Changing the url of the iframe by editing the html in realtime from http:// to https:// causes the video to show.
So let's take a youtube video http://youtu.be/_FlV6pgwlrk:
Let's have a look at how this looks in FF:
In Chrome:
In IE:
Now let's have a look at the HTML:
Code:
Copy that link exactly without tags:<br/>
<br/>
<div class="am_embed"><iframe width="480" height="270" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_FlV6pgwlrk?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div> <br/>
<br/>
And with tags:<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_FlV6pgwlrk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br/>
<br/>
<br/>
No matter how the original link is presented it gets converted from http://youtu.be/_FlV6pgwlrk or https://youtu.be/_FlV6pgwlrk or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FlV6pgwlrk or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FlV6pgwlrk (whatever you pasted) into https://www.youtube.com/embed/_FlV6pgwlrk if tags are not presented and http://www.youtube.com/embed/_FlV6pgwlrk if tags are presented.

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
