Of course! From our standpoint this is unsanitary and could be very poisonous. Like when you buy loaf bread you don't expect seller to hold the bread with his or her hands but to wrap loaf into paper first and handle it. Here you have priest with unwashed hands giving crackers to kids directly into their mouths, especially priest's hands that where just while ago in altar's boy underpants.
Or another huge unsanitary Catholic and Christian practice: kissing of the crucifix by bunch of people.
It's like "Hey let's exchange germs and diseases we have in the parish! Let's start with Theresa she just came back from Sudan with this cough and I think she picked some exotic disease we might all enjoy bringing us to the life after death world sooner."
Can you imagine how many kids got polio like that?
Or diseases they share when they bathe in those holy shrines where they claim Virgin Mary appears.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
